How it works

One Checkout, Whichever Processor You Choose

Cashiers see the same steps at every register, no matter who processes your cards.

01

Ring the sale

With integrated readers, the total goes straight to the reader. Nobody retypes an amount.

02

The guest pays

They tap, insert or swipe, and can add a tip on the reader's screen when tipping is enabled.

03

It's recorded

The approval lands in RTS with the sale, ready for your deposit.

04

The batch is checked

For Global Payments and Worldpay, RTS checks each night that card sales were batched and settled.

Integrated processors

Featured Processors, Built Right Into RTS

Pick the one that fits your merchant account and your hardware. RTS sets it up and tests it with you before your first sale. RTS also integrates TSYS, and other processors through Datacap.

Integrated

Global Payments

Formerly Heartland

In the theatre and online, with PAX or Ingenico card readers.

  • PAX readers keep card data off your registers
  • PIN debit at the register, once your account is enabled for PIN debit
  • Secure tokenized checkout online
  • On PAX readers, surcharging is applied on the reader and skipped for debit cards
Integrated

  • Connect your existing Stripe account from RTS
  • Your Stripe history, payouts and bank stay the same
  • Stripe Terminal readers for chip and tap
  • 3-D Secure for online purchases

At the register and online

Everything Guests Expect at Checkout

Modern payments at every register, with the protections your business needs.

01

Tap and mobile wallets

Contactless cards and phone wallets, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, on readers with tap enabled.

02

Tips on the reader

On PAX, Worldpay triPOS and Datacap readers, guests choose a tip on the reader's screen when tipping is enabled, with nothing for staff to key in.

03

Cards not present

Key in a card on the reader when a guest calls in or doesn't have it with them.

04

Surcharging, done right

On Worldpay, and on Global Payments with PAX readers, surcharges apply only to eligible credit cards. Debit is never surcharged.

05

Card data kept off your systems

Online payments use the processor's hosted checkout, so card numbers go straight to the processor. Kiosks use secure card readers.

06

Nightly batch checks

For Global Payments and Worldpay, RTS checks each night that card sales were batched and settled, so RTS support can catch a missed batch.

Non-integrated processing

Using a Different Processor?

RTS also supports non-integrated credit card processing. Additional licensing fees apply. Please talk to our Sales team for details.

Switching processors

A Switch We Handle With You

Changing processors is set up by RTS, not left to you, so card sales aren't interrupted.

  1. 1

    Tell us your new processor

Have your new merchant account details ready, and we confirm it works with your readers and setup.

  2. 2

We set it up and test it

RTS configures the processor and your card readers, then tests real transactions before you rely on it.

  3. 3

    Close the old account last

Keep your old processor open until the new one is running and every open batch has settled.

FAQ

Questions Operators Ask

Which processors does RTS integrate with?

Global Payments (formerly Heartland), Stripe and Worldpay, plus TSYS and other processors through Datacap. RTS sets up whichever you choose and tests it before you go live.

Can I keep my current processor?

If it's one of our integrated processors, yes. RTS also supports non-integrated processing, with additional licensing fees. Talk to our Sales team for details.

Do you take Apple Pay and Google Pay?

Yes, on readers with tap enabled. Contactless cards and phone wallets, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, work at the register.

Can I add a surcharge for credit cards?

On supported processors, yes. On Worldpay, and on Global Payments with PAX readers, surcharges apply only to eligible credit cards and never to debit. Check the rules with your processor first.

Can I try Stripe on one register first?

No. The processor is set per location, so every register switches at once, though online payments can use a different processor than your registers. RTS plans the cutover with you.

Is card data stored on my RTS server?

Online payments use the processor's hosted checkout, so card numbers go straight to the processor. With PAX readers, the full card number never touches the register.
